Shredded magnesium
We recycle and process magnesium waste. In this context, we are sure to also come across shredded magnesium, or fragmented magnesium. Scrap, castings and waste blocks often include some shredded magnesium. We can also recycle and process this like no one else can, as we already buy all grades of magnesium scrap for recycling.
Fortunately, care for the environment is improving
Processed magnesium can be used in iron, steel and ferrous alloys, such as iron, chromium, nickel and manganese compounds. This also applies to raw pig iron and raw steel. The recycling of magnesium when shredded is extremely important, as it is for all other grades of magnesium. Caring for the environment is increasingly important and the importance of recycling is increasing. The more we recycle, the less we need to tap into natural resources and the more we can minimize further growth of the scrap heap.
One third of all magnesium ends up as waste
We know that one third of all magnesium ends up on the scrap heap. Magnesium is common in electrical appliances, and these devices are being swapped faster for new devices. So, just recycle this magnesium you might think, but that’s easier said than done. Magnesium often contains impurities that need to be removed. This just happens to be our speciality. It is common to find unwanted metallic and oxidation particles in magnesium. To also recycle and process this properly, we use emulsifying salts to safeguard the melt. This also applies to shredded magnesium, as it does to our recycling and processing of all grades of magnesium with the utmost of care.
Electrical devices are increasingly being rejected sooner
It is very important to also recycle magnesium as much as possible. There is more demand for this because, as we dispose of our electrical devices more quickly, we need new ones. What are the figures on this? Every year the world population disposes of more electrical devices more quickly, which gives devices an ever-decreasing life span. There is magnesium in these devices, something that is likely to become scarce just like other metals. We cannot continue to do this forever because this scarcity is becoming really serious.
Magnesium supplies are declining significantly
We are the right address for shredded magnesium, just as we are for magnesium die cast scrap, magnesium castings walnut and magnesium skim blocks; and this is leaving out some of the other grades of scrap for the sake of practicality. Magnesium recycling and processing hold no secrets for us. We have been doing this for over twenty years and know how to manage it. Magnesium recycling is a specialist field, but it is extremely important. Magnesium is the eighth element in the world in terms of quantity. However, this quantity is decreasing sharply. Ever decreasing lifespans of devices in which magnesium is used, is not helping the environment either. So, magnesium should be recycled and you can call on us for this to happen.
